Editorial and Multimedia Services Manager - CIFOR, BOGOR

The Center for International Forestry Research advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. We are one of 15 centres within the CGIAR. Our headquarters are in Bogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America.

Not many research centres have a global engagement with a broad range of forest-related issues, stress the perspectives of poor countries and communities, combine policy and research, question conventional wisdom and constantly focus on how to have impact. CIFOR is one of those few. We are looking for a Editorial and Multimedia Services Manager who shares our passion for enhancing the role of forests in human well-being and environmental conservation, and our commitment to professionalism, innovation, impact, and collaboration.

The Editorial and Multimedia Services Manager will lead a highly motivated and skilled team of web masters, graphic artists, production and printing specialists, and research editors and translators, providing the centre’s multi-media and publishing services. He or she will ensure the Centre meets the highest editorial standards, will be decisive, and have an instinctual feeling for the art of research editing. The successful candidate will be joining a program in its third year of a cutting-edge development communication model that is delivering double and triple digit growth across all metrics, from downloads and dissemination of publications and journal articles to media hits and web visitors. He or she will build and continuously improve policies, procedures and systems for the rapid and efficient development and delivery of our communication products. Over the course of the 3-year appointment, she/he will ensure that staff are exposed to, trained in, and applying and meeting the best practices and industry standards to deliver consistent quality, and set production schedules that balance workloads and family. The editor will oversee guidelines and rosters and tracking forms, but appreciate the flexibility that is essential in an exciting and fast-moving communication environment.

The right person will have a passion for the environment and forests, the biodiversity they embrace and the people who depend on them. The Manager will report to the Director of Communications/Information Services.
